(KNZA)--Brown County Rural Water District #2 has re-submitted a petition for the annexation of property into its district.
Representatives of the Water District met with the County Commission Tuesday to inquire about the setting of a public hearing on the petition, which was submitted to the County Clerk’s office last Thursday.
The Water District last month withdrew the petition and a hearing was postponed after questions were raised whether it contained enough valid signatures. Additional signatures were obtained and the petition resubmitted.
County Attorney Kevin Hill says the Water District indicated the petition contains 221 signatures, which more than meets the requirement of those needed.
The Commission set a public hearing on the petition for September 30th at 8:30 in the morning.
