(KAIR)--The scale at the Atchison County solid waste facility is in need of repair, and County Commissioners are debating on the best way to address the issue.
Commissioners, during a meeting earlier this week, heard a report from the department, outlining the problems associated with the scale. Commission Chair Bill Pohl says 000
county officials would like to see what exactly needs to be done before moving forward. “We came to the consensus that it makes sense to me and to Commissioner Noll that we have someone come out there and look at it and tell us what it is going to cost to fix it up. If its $250, that may be $250 thrown away if they say it is not fixable, but I rather spend $250 then just go out and say buy a new scale, $100,000.”
In other business, Commissioners approved the purchase of a new oil truck and a new chip spreader for the Road and Bridge Department, contingent on obtaining financing through a local bank, which Pohl believe should not be a problem.
