(KNZA)--A Wathena, Kansas man was among two injured in a two-vehicle wreck Friday night in Agency, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Steven Whittaker was northbound on State Route FF when he failed to negotiate a curve and traveled across the center line. 17-year-old St. Joseph resident Tyler Hoffman was southbound and tried to avoid the collision by applying his brakes and started to skid. The front driver’s side of Whittaker’s Ford Bronco struck the front driver’s side of Hoffman’s Toyota Tercel. The Bronco overturned.
Whittaker was taken by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with moderate injuries. Hoffman was also taken by ambulance to the hospital and then flown to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City with serious injuries.
The St. Joseph News Press reports Whittaker faces charges of second-degree assault, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, no insurance and driving while suspended.
The wreck was reported shortly before 10:30 Friday night.
