(MSC News)--Starting Tuesday, unpaid taxes can be paid in Kansas without interest and penalties if paid in full by October 15th.
Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan calls the state amnesty plan “a limited-time offer aimed at helping Kansans get out of tax debt with the state.”
The Department of Revenue will accept payments for back taxes from both individuals and businesses.
The Legislature approved the tax amnesty program during the last session, after estimates it could bring in $30 million to the state. However, some lawmakers were skeptical the program would raise that much revenue. If the estimates fall short, the state might face more budget cuts.
