(KMZA)--The expansion of health care services will soon be on display in Onaga during a special ribbon cutting and open house planned for Sunday, August 30th.
The reason for the event is to provide the public with a first hand look at the newly constructed, near 46,000 square foot Community Healthcare System's new hospital, now standing at 120 West 8th Street in Onaga.
The expansion idea became a reality on April 2nd, 2013, when hospital district voters strongly approved the issuance of nearly $18 million in general obligation bonds to finance the project, which USDA Rural Development has agreed to purchase. In addition, the hospital contributed $1 million to make it happen.
Ground was broken in May, 2014.
The state-of-the-art facility includes a new surgical suite, imaging department, complete with in-house MRI and CT capabilities, expanded emergency services, a birth center, a clinic, and private patient rooms.
Overland Park-based Murray Company was selected to oversee the near $19 million expansion project.
The public is invited to the ribbon cutting and open house set to run from 1 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
Guests are asked to park at Onaga High School, at 500 High Street, where they will be bused to the hospital location.
