(KNZA)--A former Buchanan County corrections officer is accused of trying to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
34-year-old Patrick Symington, of St. Joseph, was arraigned in a Buchanan County courtroom Tuesday on a felony count of enticement of a child.
According to court documents, Symington contacted a 14-year-old girl by Facebook instant messenger between July 1st and July 10th and requested she travel to his home to allegedly engage in sexual conduct.
Investigators also say Symington allegedly physically grabbed the girl and made a graphic sexual request a day before that online conversation
The St. Joseph News Press reports Symington is currently free on a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on August 27th.
