(KNZA)--Three Hiawatha businesses have been recognized by the state for the contributions they make to the local and state economy.
Lyle Peterson with the Kansas Department of Commerce was on hand at Monday evening’s Hiawatha City Commission meeting to present awards to Capstan Ag Systems, Maple Wood Lawn and Landscape, and NEK-CAP Inc.
The three were among seventy-six statewide winners in one of four categories for awards presented by the Department of Commerce as part of Business Appreciation Month, which is observed in June.
Capstan Ag Systems and NEK-CAP were both regional award winners in their respective categories, while Maple Wood Lawn and Landscape was a merit award winner.
The three were nominated this spring by the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development.
