(KNZA)--Brown County area motorists will see an increase in law enforcement this weekend, as a 12-hour saturation effort is held.
Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore says his department will join forces with the Brown County Sheriff's Office to conduct the effort, set to run from 4:00 Saturday afternoon until 4:00 Sunday morning.
Defore says the extra patrols will be on the lookout for drunk and distracted drivers as well as seat belt violations.
The effort is part of a statewide program, and serves as a prelude to the upcoming extended saturation effort planned for the Labor Day weekend.
