(KAIR)--The Atchison Historical Society is requesting the public's assistance in determining the all-time, top ten Atchison County sports stories.
The vote comes as the “Hometown Teams” traveling Smithsonian exhibit, which has been on display in Atchison since mid June, leaves the area. However, the local exhibit sections of the exhibit will remain on display through the end of August. The selection of the top ten local sports stories is another loose end that needs to be tied up from the exhibit.
Atchison County Historical Society Executive Director Chris Taylor says that the society has compiled 26 significant sports stories featuring local players, coaches, teams and games.
The Historical Society plans to keep voting open through the end of August.
A full list of the 26 nominations, as well as link to vote for your favorites, is available on the Historical Society's website atchisonhistory.org. Links to both are also available on the Society's Facebook page.
