(KLZA)-- An 18-year-old Falls City man is facing the potential of multiple charges including felonies after he led a Richardson County Deputy Sheriff on a pursuit reaching speeds of 115 miles per hour Thursday night.
Deputy Clinton Stonebarger attempted to stop a car for a traffic offense on Barada Street in Falls City at approximately 10:45 p-m. The car, allegedly driven by Derek McCann of Falls City accelerated and left Falls City on Highway 73 going south. The car wrecked about a quarter mile west of Highway 73 on 702 Road which is the Nebraska / Kansas State line.
McCann was transported to Community Medical Center by a Deputy for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, then placed in jail.
The car McCann was driving is registered to Scott Huppert of Falls City.
Among the charges McCann is possibly facing are felony charges of flight to avoid arrest and theft by unlawful taking. Misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle, willful reckless driving and a possible alcohol infraction.
