(KNZA)--A Hiawatha man was arrested Wednesday evening following an alleged aggravated battery incident involving a hammer.
Police Chief John Defore says officers were dispatched to 107 Utah shortly before 7 after it was reported that an individual had been hit in the face with a hammer.
Once on scene, Defore says officers located the victim who was transported to the Hiawatha Community Hospital for treatment of injuries and released.
Through follow-up investigation, Defore says officers arrested 22-year-old Devin Hall a few blocks away. Hall was booked into the Brown County Jail.
Defore says police are asking for the public’s help in locating the tan-handled hammer allegedly used in the attack.
He says its believed to have been dropped in an area between Oregon and 4th Streets and Utah and Delaware Streets.
Defore says if someone notices or locates a generic hammer with a tan handle they should call the Police Department at 742-2156 or simply call 911 and ask to speak with an officer.
