(KAIR)--A continuance has been granted in the case of an Atchison man accused of sex crimes against a child.
33-year-old Steven Piper appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon where his attorney entered his appearance and requested the continuance.
A new court date was set for July 31st.
Piper turned himself into police last week after an investigation showed that he had allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual acts with a child under the age of 14 from 2003 to 2008.
He remains in the Atchison County Jail, held on a $200,000 bond.
