(KAIR)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that a chip seal project on K-92 in Leavenworth County is scheduled to be begin Monday.
According to a release from KDOT, the project will take place on an approximately 15 mile stretch of the road from the Leavenworth/Jefferson County line to 15th Street in Leavenworth. Project work will include the application of a thin layer of asphalt over the pavement topped with a layer of rock chips pressed into place with heavy rollers.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday morning at 9:00 with east and westbound K-92 reduced to one lane in each direction, several miles at a time, during the project's duration.
Work will take place during daylight hours Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work possible. Motorists will be directed through the work zone via a pilot car and flagger operation.
Drivers should expect delays of up to fifteen minutes, and should use an alternate route if possible.
The project is expected to be completed in mid August of this year, weather permitting.
Vance Brothers, of Kansas City, is the primary contractor on the $401,000 project.
