(KNZA)--The Doniphan County 4-H Fair prince and princess were crowned during a ceremony Monday evening.
Selected as prince from among seven candidates was 14-year-old Owen Root, an 8 year member of the Doniphan Star 4-H Club.
Lauren Gatz, a six year member of the Midway Meadowlarks 4-H Club, was selected as fair princess from among six candidates. She is currently serving as secretary for club.
Root will be a freshman at Troy High School this fall, while Gatz will be a 7th grader at Sabetha Middle School.
In their roles as fair prince and princess, Root and Gatz will hand out the ribbons and awards during the fair. The fair runs through Friday at the fairgrounds in Troy.
