(KMZA)--The proposed 2016 budget for the city of Seneca calls for no change in the property tax levy.
The Seneca City Council Wednesday evening approved for publication a proposed budget of $10.9 million that contains an estimated tax rate of 32.338 mills. The mill levy is to generate about $669,000.
City administrator Matt Roehder says the city was able to keep the tax rate the same due to a nearly $970,000 increase in the city’s assessed valuation.
The Council will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their August 5th meeting.
In other business, accountant Jay Lanley presented the city’s 2014 audit report. He told the Council the city has a clean bill of health and no violations were found.
The Council approved the re-appointment of city officials—including Libby Deiter as municipal judge; Brent Schulte as police chief and code enforcement officer; Jane Strathman as city clerk; Martin Mishler as city attorney and Brian Rushe as development administrator. In addition, approved were committee appointments for Council members.
