(AP/KLZA)-- A former Nebraska school teacher has accepted plea agreements in both Nemaha and Johnson counties on allegations she had sex with a student.
25-year old Carrie J. Miller, of Tecumseh, taught at Johnson County Central School in Tecumseh. Court documents allege Miller had a sexual relationship with a 15-year old male student. She was accused of having sexual contact with the student 50-60 times from October 2012 through October 2013. Most of the encounters were alleged to have taken place in Nemaha County, Nebraska at an abandoned farmstead. At least one of the encounters allegedly occurred in Johnson County.
The Beatrice Daily Sun reports Miller will be sentenced July 1, in Nemaha County where she entered a plea of no contest and was convicted of two felony counts and one misdemeanor count of child abuse. Miller entered a no contest plea and was convicted of one felony and one misdemeanor count of child abuse in Johnson County.
Prosecutors lowered some charges and dismissed others in return for her pleas.
Under Nebraska law, people 19 and over cannot have sexual contact with people under the age of 16.
