Jury Trial Set in Hiawatha Child Sexual Exploitation Case
04/06/2015

(KNZA)--A Hiawatha man has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly possessing child pornography.

43-year-old Lonnie Johansen entered the plea Monday in Brown County District Court to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child under the age of 14.

District Judge John Weingart set a jury trial for June 9-11th.

Weingart said the first sexual exploitation charge is an off-grid violation and under Jessica Law could carry a 25-year to life sentence in prison.  He said the second count is a level 5 felony and carries a sentence of 31-136 months in prison.

Johansen was arrested last October following an investigation by the Hiawatha Police Department.

He remains in the Brown County Jail, held on $500,000 bond.
