(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners have acted on grievance filed by a former employee of the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office and tabled action on a second grievance filed.
The Board voted unanimously Tuesday to confirm the decision of Sheriff Don Pounds to dismiss David Clark from his position as Jail Administrator. During a hearing requested by Clark on February 10, Pounds said there was a hostile work environment and that Clark had cooked meals in the jail against health department regulations.
Clark said former Sheriff Randy Houser had allowed him to cook in the office and insinuated he was fired because the Sheriff’s then girlfriend was related on one of the jail employees, who Clark felt had an agenda against him.
The second grievance, filed by Julie Houser, a temporary, part-time Dispatcher / Jailer was tabled until the Commissioners March 3rd meeting.
Mrs. Houser alleges she was not given the hours she was schedule to work in January and said she felt she was being discriminated against due to her being married to former Sheriff Randy Houser and her age. She said she wanted to know if she was fired, or that she wanted to be put back to work if she had not been fired. Sheriff Pounds said Houser has not been fired.
It was revealed while Commissioners were discussing the Houser grievance Tuesday, that she has now filed for unemployment benefits. None of the principals involved in the grievances attended the Commissioners meeting Tuesday.
Houser recently applied for full-time work as a Jailer / Dispatcher. Sheriff Pounds has said currently there are no full-time positions open for Jailer / Dispatchers.
