(KLZA)- The Richardson County Board of Commissioners last week approved the expenditure of $102,157 for a 2014 Freightliner truck from the Truck Center for the Richardson County Highway Department. In addition, the Board approved a bid of $37,000 with a trade-in allowance of $10,000 for the purchase of a Klassic Trailer.
Merle Bachman, President of Drainage District #8 and John Bangert met with the Commissioners regarding the status of a closed bridge within the District. A letter was submitted to the Board from the District offering to pay for the concrete costs, which they assume, would be of a reasonable and appropriate bridge design. They would also rework the approaches as needed to meet the conditions of the constructed bridge which would then re-establish access to farmland within Drainage District #8.
The Commissioners are obtaining quotes from Speece-Lewis Engineers on the costs for the engineering and costs for construction of the bridge.
Commissioners also met with County Attorney Doug Merz concerning a proposal from attorney Dylan Handley, representing Catherine Palmer, regarding acquisition of property the County recently acquired, where a radio tower is located north of Barada. Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Dixon is waiting on a formal report from Ehresmann Engineering, who is reviewing the tower and is its suitability for use by the County. Further discussion is to be held during a future meeting.
