(KLZA)-- Richardson County Sheriff Randy Houser cancelled his appointment with the Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday during which he was planning to again request approval for full-time employment of his wife, Julie Houser as a dispatcher/jailer.
Later in the day, Deborah Raney met with Commissioners to discuss her dismissal from her position as a jailer/dispatcher from the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office on September 17. Mrs. Raney read a statement to the Board regarding her termination.
Sheriff Houser was present for the meeting and offered information to the Commissioners to explain the termination. County Attorney Doug Merz was also present.
Commission Chairman David Sickel stated the Board would take the matter under advisement and inform Sheriff Houser and Deborah Raney of their decision.
In other business Commissioners and other elected and appointed officials met with attorney Pam Bourne, who is advising the County Board on revisions to the Richardson County Employee Handbook. The meeting was to continue review of the drafted handbook and answer questions officials may have. A second draft of the handbook will be sent to the Board and officials for continued review in the next few weeks.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed Commissioners work to complete the Preston Road project started this week and the goal is to be done by the first week in October if the weather cooperates.
