(KTNC)--The Nemaha County Nebraska Board heard presentations from two health insurance companies and a couple departmental budget requests last week.
Jim Oestmann of the Auburn Insurance Agency and Dan Duren of Benefits Management explained the health insurance benefits their companies could offer to the county employees.
County Assessor Jana Smith and UNL Extension Educator Gary Lesoing presented their budget requests for the next fiscal year. Both requested an increase in funding.
Lesoing noted that the 4-H Extension Associate received a promotion from UNL, so the UNL 55-percent cost share increased, which led to the increase in his budget request.
Also last week, Kim Beger with the Nemaha County Leadership Program asked for financial support from the county for their upcoming classes. Beger said they have seven members in the class.
The board voted to hire Larry DeFreece as the manager of the Furniture, Appliance, and Oil Recycling Lot, with a salary of $15 per hour.
Commissioners also reappointed Bob Hutton to a three-year term on the Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging.
