(KAIR)--Atchison officials are conducting an Open House event designed to inform residents on new flood plain maps that are scheduled to go into effect in September.
According to a release from the city, the Open House is an opportunity for property owners, real estate agents, insurance agents, emergency services professionals, lenders, farmers, and any interested citizens to learn how the new maps will effect them.
Experts from the Kansas Department of Agriculture's Division of Water Resources and FEMA contractor AMEC will staff computer work stations and discuss individual properties and what the maps mean to the local community.
Those interested in attending are invited to stop by the Atchison Library's Meeting room Thursday afternoon between 3:30-7:00. A presentation focusing on insurance will take place from 3:30-4:30.
For more information, please call the City of Atchison Community Development Office at 913-367-5560.
