(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners learned Tuesday the county could be facing an increase of nearly 20-percent for insurance for the next year. Miller-Monroe Insurance representatives Joe Miller and Steve Simon met with the Board Tuesday to discuss the renewal.
A workman’s comp increase of approximately 27-percent and a jump in vehicle insurance rates of around 40-percent are responsible for most of the increase. Last year the premium was $178,991. The initial renewal proposal comes with a cost of $214,200.
Miller told Commissioners he is researching the increase further with the provider.
Artie Lucas with the Goldberg Group Architects presented information to the Board, clarifying the costs included in the companies feasibility study for the proposed jail project. Commissioners are still waiting a response from Nebraska Jail Standards on preliminary designs the Goldberg Group submitted for the proposed jail project.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed Commissioners the engineer with the firm that did the striping on the newly paved Preston Road had reviewed the section of the road where it was determined the striping was not satisfactory to the project specifications.
Huppert also updated the Board on the Humboldt Northwest bridge construction project and on debris removal from bridges. Discussion was also held on replacement of a rock truck involved in an accident in May.
Commissioners also approved having Ben Howard do electrical improvements to the Courthouse lampposts at $292 for each lamp on the east and west pedastals of the Courthouse as well as the two on the south side of the Courthouse.
