(KTNC) - The Nebraska Department of Roads plans to replace bridges near Humboldt and Steinauer, but work isn’t scheduled to start for two years.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the summer of 2016 and be completed by that winter on the Nemaha River Bridge on the south end of Humboldt and the Turkey Creek Bridge southeast of Steinauer.
The scope of the work for both bridges includes removing and replacing the bridge deck and adding new approaches. The Humboldt project also includes updating the guardrail to meet current design standards.
The Department of Roads scheduled the projects after inspections showed that they need to be rehabilitated.
The Turkey Creek Bridge project also involves a portion of Nebraska Highway 4 in Pawnee County.
The Department of Roads provided information on the projects during an open house last week in Humboldt.
