(KLZA) -- Richardson County Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Dixon presented a monthly report to County Commissioners Tuesday.
He discussed attending the Stella Village Board meeting where the lack of a weather siren in the community was discussed. Dixon is researching the idea of placing small sirens at Kirkman’s Cove and in the villages that currently do not have them. Dixon noted that during the recent siren testing it was discovered that several sirens did not work and steps are being taken to correct the problems.
Richardson County Emergency Management is also reviewing systems to put weather alerts out to cell phones.
Dixon did request the Board consider his request to hire a full-time deputy Emergency Manager. No action was taken.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert met with Commissioners and discussed the ongoing problem with illegal trash dumping in county road right-of-way. He noted crews were patching asphalt on the Dustless Highway this week.
Commissioners authorized Chairman David Sickel to attend and make bids on property to secure the interests of Richardson County at the Sheriff’s Sale on Friday, April 11th at 1 p-m. Property of CLI Towers Inc. will be sold because of delinquent personal property taxes.
Board members also approved an informal quote from QEDE Inc. of Otoe, Nebraska for the installation of an active radon mitigation system in the Courthouse at a cost of $6,750.
