(KTNC)--Work is underway on a two-year project on Highway 73 south of Falls City. Crews put up signs Monday on along the highway for the project, which stretches from the Nebraska-Kansas state line north to Falls City.
Bill Cary, who is managing the project for the Department of Roads, says they will patch the bridge approaches, bridge decks and the concrete pavement, then cover that with a layer of asphalt. They will also install box culverts, mill and resurface the roadway and repair the shoulders.
Cary says much of the work will be done on the bridges over the Nemaha River, Pony Creek, and the railroad bridge south of Falls City. Motorists should be prepared to stop. Stoplights will be installed at the bridges, and flaggers and a pilot car will also be present to lead motorists through the work zone.
The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2015.
Constructor’s Incorporated of Lincoln is the contractor on the $4.6 million project.
