(KNZA)--In response to the massive winter storm effecting the state, Governor Sam Brownback has declared a State of Disaster Emergency for all of Kansas.
The declaration authorizes state resources to assist communities affected by the winter storm still moving across Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is attributing two deaths in a Crawford County vehicle accident to weather conditions.
The Kansas National Guard is deploying nine teams consisting of two humvees and four soldiers to transport emergency and medical personnel and assist stranded motorists. Their mission is anticipated to run through 10 Wednesday morning.
Kansas Adjutant General, Major General Lee Tafanelli, says the State Emergency Operations Center will remain open through the night to monitor the weather situation, communicate with counties about needs they may have and coordinate state resources.
