(KTNC) - A Tennessee man was injured when the van he was in blew a tire on Interstate 29 in Atchison County.
The accident happened at 3:00 Friday morning, seven miles north of Watson, Missouri.
The Missouri State Patrol says 31-year-old Yovani Varela was a passenger in a Ford Econoline van. The van was heading north when the right front tire blew, causing the van to go off the roadway and strike a bridge railing.
Varela, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken initially to the Grape Memorial Hospital in Hamburg, before being transferred to the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha with serious injuries.
The driver, 31-year-old Roger Ramirez of Nashville, Tennessee, was not injured.
