(KTNC) - Bid packets are being sent out this week as the Johnson-Brock School District moves forward with its building addition.
The Johnson-Brock School Board met in special session last week to hammer out details of the project. They held a conference call with the architect and contractor.
Superintendent Jeff Koehler says they went through plans to find places where they could make cuts to keep the project within their budget. He says they were given different options for flooring and roofing materials, and the heating and cooling system.
Koehler says they want to keep the cost of the building addition under one million dollars. He says they also talked about bringing the 1936 building up to current fire codes.
Koehler says the bid packets will be sent out this week, and several local companies have expressed interest in the project.
Bids are due back in three weeks. Johnson-Brock officials hope to begin construction yet this fall, but Koehler says depending on the winning bidder, the start of construction may be pushed back two or three months.
