(KTNC) - A northwest Missouri man was killed and another man was injured in a crash late Sunday night.
The Missouri State Patrol says 20-year-old Damon Smith of Fairfax was driving a 2007 Ford 500 west on Missouri Highway 46 five miles west of Maryville when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve.
The vehicle went off the south side of the road and struck a bridge.
The accident occurred at 10:50 p.m. Sunday. Nodaway County Coroner Vince Shelby pronounced Smith dead at the scene shortly before midnight.
A passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Jeffery Wooten of Fairfax was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville with serious injuries.
The Patrol says Smith was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred. It’s not known if Wooten was wearing a seat belt.
