(KTNC) - A Falls City man was arrested after leading a Richardson County Deputy on a chase early Saturday morning.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Deputy Clinton Stonebarger attempted to stop a 2003 Dodge flatbed pickup that being driven on Harlan Street without its headlights on shortly before 3:00 a.m. Saturday.
The affidavit says the truck turned west on 16th Street and ran several stop signs. The pursuit continued onto Appleoff Street, 15th Street, and West 14th, before the truck turned north onto 650 Avenue. The pickup finally stopped after crossing Highway 8.
During the chase, Deputy Stonebarger says the pickup destroyed a closed gate on a private road leading to West 14th Street.
The driver was identified as 27-year-old Joshua Kaster. A preliminary breath test at the scene indicated Kaster had a blood-alcohol level of .202.
He was booked into the Richardson County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, 2nd offense DUI, and criminal mischief.
Authorities say the owners of the gate that was destroyed during the chase have indicated they plan to sign a complaint for the damage to their property.
