(KTNC) - The Falls City School District is one of a handful of school districts in the state working with the Nebraska Department of Education on a new evaluation model for teachers and principals.
Superintendent Tim Heckenlively discussed the new evaluation model during his report to the board Monday night. He says Falls City is one of 17 school districts in the state that will work through the implementation process for the new model this year. (play audio :34 “evaluation model.”)
Heckenlively says the goal of the new evaluation is to improve the instructional process for teachers and principals, resulting in higher student achievement.
The Falls City School District is taking the next step in its technology goals this year. Heckenlively says they will roll out the One-to-One I-Pad Learning Initiative at the High School. (play audio :40 “in the classroom.”)
The One-to-One Initiative aims to provide a technology device to every student in a school. It initially involved laptop computers, but Heckenlively says more schools are now using I-Pads, as the applications are more conducive to a digital curriculum, especially at the secondary level.
