Three Apply for Richardson Co Attorney

 (KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday reviewed three applications submitted for the position of Richardson County Attorney. 

The appointee will fulfill the term of office expiring January 7, 2015.

Those applying for the position are current Deputy County Attorney Doug Merz,  Angelo Ligouri from Auburn and Corey and Jill Kenney from Olathe, Kansas.  Jill Kenney is originally from the Rulo area. 

Interviews of the applicants will be scheduled.  

In other business Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert said the tentative plan now is for the Preston Road project to begin on or before August 1st.  He also discussed repairing or replacing the Schawang Bridge on 714 Road at 654 Avenue.

Huppert also updated the Board on an accident Monday on the Preston Road involving a motor grader.  Repairs needed at the main shop and office at the Falls City yard were also discussed.  The work includes replacing the air conditioning system.  

A memorandum of understanding regarding the placement of equipment was approved.  Emergency Management Director Jim Gerweck also submitted job descriptions for the Director, Deputy Director and the Administrative Assistant of the Emergency Management Agency.  Commissioners will review them and discuss them again July 16th.

Radio communications were also reviewed.  A motion to move the radio equipment from the Humboldt Sheriff’s Office to the Humboldt Water Tower and switch the FCC license to that location as soon as possible was also approved.

Commissioners also appointed Scott Huppert, Amanda Young, Brian Dixon, Deb Ebel and Pam Scott along with Commissioner Jim Davidson to a Health Insurance Committee.

Board members also approved writing a letter of support for the Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska for a grant to fund a transit system.
