( KNZA )--A resurfacing project will begin Friday ( June 7th ) on a nearly 5 mile stretch of K-246 in Brown County from Antelope Road to the west city limits of Morrill, weather permitting.
The project includes a chip seal over the existing roadway pavement.
Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.
The project had originally been scheduled to begin Thursday, but was pushed back due to forecasted rain.
Beginning Friday, The Kansas Department of Transportation says traffic will be reduced to one lane for both directions along with intermittent closures of adjacent cross roads during the project work hours. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via a pilot car operation during daylight hours only. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes maximum and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. .
Vance Brothers Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri is the primary contractor on the more than $210,000 project, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-June weather permitting.
