Holt Co Commission Accepts bid for Radio Tower Equipment
06/04/2013

(KTNC) - Holt County Commissioners accepted a bid to purchase and install radio tower equipment during their meeting last week.
The county received one bid, from Haug Communications of St. Joseph, in the amount of $28,377.  The new equipment will be compliant with the Sheriff’s Department existing radios and the county’s 911 equipment.
In other business, commissioners agreed with a request from Health Department Administrator Brenda Nelson to renew the department’s cellular phone contract with Northwest Cellular.
Commissioners discussed alternatives to replace a closed bridge on Holt Road 100 with Road and Bridge Supervisor Daryl Biermann.
Alternatives, as presented by engineer Phil Schrick, include seeking an easement from the adjacent landowner to realign the roadway, which is primarily in Atchison County; installing a double 10-by-10-foot box culvert in place of a bridge; a steel girder bridge with a concrete deck; and a concrete bridge.
Costs for the various options range from $100,000 to more than $280,000.  Commissioners from Holt County and Atchison County will meet in the near future to discuss the options.
