(KTNC) - With the year nearly half over, a comparison to previous years shows sales tax revenue is lagging a bit in Holt County Missouri.
County Clerk Kathy Kunkel says sales tax revenue is currently six-percent under the five-year average and three-percent below the 10-year average, which is significant for the county.
What’s saving the budget, Kunkel says, is increased use tax revenue.
Kunkel says commissioners have scheduled a couple large Road and Bridge projects this summer. Those projects include replacing a couple of small bridges with large arch-pipe tubes. The county has already purchased the tubes for those projects, and Kunkel says they will be able to use they county’s workforce to remove and replace the old bridges.
Kunkel says they hope to continue the CART Rock Program, and don’t want to have to transfer resources from other funds to pay for it, so they’ll keep a close eye on sales tax revenue in the last half of the year.
