Nicodemus says no arrests have been made and no suspects have been determined in the case so far.
He adds that sometimes counterfeit money is inadvertently passed and that the person caught passing it may not be aware of its counterfeit nature.
Nicodemus says the Leavenworth Police Department typically receives one or two counterfeit cases a year, but there have been no recent cases of counterfeiting reported in the city.
