( KNZA )-The Doniphan County Commission has agreed to vacate a portion of a county road.
Following a public hearing Monday drawing no comment, the commission voted to approve vacating a portion of Big Springs Road between 260th and 265th Roads.
On hand for the hearing were petitioner Mary McCauley, Ken McCauley and attorney Alan Boeh.
Boeh informed commissioners the adjoining landowners had been notified by certified letter of the request and a notice published in the Kansas Chief of the hearing.
In other business, Sheriff Jerry Dubach informed commissioners there are currently 15 local inmates housed in the Doniphan County Jail.
He said $240 in inmate rental income was received from Wynadotte County for November. Dubach said no income was received during December as Wyandotte County removed their inmates for the remainder of the year in November.
