Peru State got out to a big lead and rolled to a 40-23 win over Central Methodist University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference football game Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats scored the first 40 points of the game, and led 40-0 after three quarters. Central Methodist scored all 23 of its points in the final period.
Ryan Ludlow led the Bobcat offense with 115 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Ludlow’s second rushing touchdown was his 17th of the season, tying a Peru State record held by Alvin Holder for most rushing TDs in a season. Ludlow also became the 6th Bobcat player to go over one thousand yards rushing in a season.
Peru State travels to Marshall, Missouri to take on Missouri Valley College Saturday. Missouri Valley is 7-0 on the season after beating Graceland University, 39-7, on Saturday.
Saturday’s game was the last for the Bobcats at the “old” Oak Bowl. Following the game, ground was broken to symbolize the start of the renovation of the Oak Bowl – the facility’s first major renovation since it was built in 1900. Work will begin this fall on a $14 million renovation of the stadium.
