(KNZA)--The City of Horton is set to conduct planned capital improvements to the City's water distribution lines, necessary to ensure reliable future service.
In order to make the improvements, water service will have to be shut down Wednesday morning at 8:00, affecting customers in the northwest area, north of 15th Street and west of Central Avenue.
Water is expected to restored by noon Wednesday, but, when that happens, it will be necessary that all water be boiled until further notice.
That must be done in order to prevent any possible contamination that might enter the lines during the time of reduced water pressure.
Once the samples are returned to the City, the City of Horton will notify this radio station and we'll tell you when the all clear is given.
During the boil advisory, citizens are encouraged to boil water vigorously for one minute prior to using it for any drinking, or food use.
Affected City of Horton water customers, prior to the water shut-off, should take preparations, such as filling water bottles for drinking and cooking, and filling bathtubs for future use.
All questions should be directed to Horton City Hall at 785-486-2681.
