Among his stops on Tuesday was the high school in Troy where the Kansas Republican heard concerns regarding the recently implemented federal guidelines pertaining to foods served during student meals(Play Audio)

Moran, this week, was joined by other Kansas Republican colleagues, from Washington D.C., in opposition to the school meal plan.
Congressman Tim Huelskamp has challenged the USDA to embrace its own calorie and nutrition requirements, saying that the USDA cafeteria should meet the same criteria, and see if those employees eat enough to function and if they like having choices taken away.
Senator Pat Roberts has sent a letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, requesting answers to questions regarding the program’s implementation.
The USDA, for their part, says the changes are not “one-size-fits-all,” with the guidelines allowing for a range of calories withing both a minimum and maximum level, adjusted for the age of the student.
