(KNZA)--The undersecretary for farm and foreign agricultural services for the USDA came to Kansas Wednesday as part of an ongoing tour to assess the effects of what the USDA calls “the most severe drought in 50 years.”

Michael Scuse's visit to farms in eastern and western Kansas ultimately brought him near Mayetta, where he assessed the drought affects on Nick Bowser's soybean farm(Play Audio)

According to the Topeka Capital Journal, Scuse says that despite the impact drought has had on Kansas crops, they remain in much better shape than those in Indiana and Missouri.
