(KNZA)--A former Hiawatha resident is now 2-million-dollars richer, following his win as part of last week's record Powerball jackpot of 337-million-dollars.
Mark Davies, who currently resides in Bennington, Nebraska, purchased a Nebraska Power Ball, including a one dollar bonus play, from a grocery store in Omaha.
Matching all five white ball numbers, and because of the bonus purchase, he won the 2-million dollars from the August 15th drawing.
Davies calls his winning ticket “an impulse buy” saying he'd never bought one with the Power Play bonus before, but “it really paid off.”
In fact, the ticket was only one number away from winning the 337-million-dollar jackpot.
Davies is a 1997 graduate of Hiawatha High School, whose grandparents still live in his native community, while his parents reside in Saint Joseph, Missouri.
