Jackson County EMS Seeking Funding Increase for 2013
08/15/2012

( KNZA )-- Jackson County’s ambulance service provider is requesting a funding increase for 2013.

Jackson County EMS owners Brent Teter and Jay Watkins presented a contract proposal to commissioners Monday for 2013.

The contract calls for $187,000 in funding, which is an increase of $27,500 from this year.

The commission made no decision.  The Jackson County EMS will meet with the commission again on August 27th.

The commission will have County Counselor Alex Morrissey review the contract.

In other business, the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce board met with the commission to follow up on the July Jubilee Celebration held at Banner Creek Reservoir.

Board member Mike Tanking said he considered it a very good event this year, but they barely broke even.   Among possible changes being considered by the board is having local talent as opposed to a big entertainer.

Commissioners said they are against having a corporate sponsor, like Budweiser, that would require a “ beer garden” at the event.  The commission also said they believe there is enough local talent for entertainment.
