( KNZA )-A hand recount has been requested in a Brown County Commission race.
2nd District commissioner candidate Roger Madere of Horton made the written request today ( Tuesday ) to county election officer Debbie Parker and posted a $350 bond to cover the cost of the recount.
A board will conduct the recount at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon in the Brown County Courthouse second floor lobby.
Results following a canvass of ballots Monday from the primary election had incumbent Republican Keith Olsen defeating Madere by a one-vote margin.
13 provisional ballots were counted from the 2nd commissioner district during the canvass, putting the final tally at 218 votes for Olsen and 217 for Madere. A third candidate, Richard " Dick" Geiger received 128 vote.
Unofficial results last Tuesday night had Olsen winning by a three-vote margin over Madere.
