Longtime USD 409 Teacher Inducted into HOF

A longtime Atchison Public School teacher is the newest inductee into the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame.

Doctor Rod Heffley was honored over the weekend in Dodge City.

School Superintendent Susan Myers says it’s his connection with his students that makes him deserving of the honor.

Heffley is also credited with starting up the high school bowling team in 2009.

He began his teaching career in 1968 in Baldwin, and came to Atchison in 1973.
