Two people were taken to the hospital in Maryville following a two-vehicle accident near Quitman in rural Nodaway County Missouri Tuesday evening.
The accident happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Missouri Route 113 and 210th Avenue, about two miles north of Quitman.
According to the State Patrol, 47-year-old Timothy Cherry of Fairfax was driving a Toyota pickup north on Route 113 when his vehicle was struck by a westbound Pontiac Sunfire that had failed to stop at a stop sign and had pulled into the path of Cherry’s pickup.
Cherry was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville with moderate injuries. The driver of the Sunfire, 19-year-old Catherine Gast of Skidmore was taken by private vehicle to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
