The Falls City, City Council Monday night approved a bid in the amount of $337,850 from IES Commercial of Holdrege, to build approximately 3.5 miles of electrical line. John Nixon has details. ( play audio )
The line will run west on 14th Street, north to Highway 8 then west to Coons Corner.
The line was damaged by an ice storm several years ago according to Utility Superintendent Alan Romine. ( play audio :27 seconds )
FEMA will pay 75 percent of the cost, Nebraska Emergency Management will pay 12.5 percent leaving the final 12.5 percent to be paid by the city, amounting to just over $42,000. Romine told the Council the Utility Department will pay the bill and wait for reimbursement. ( play audio :23 seconds )
The Council also approved on the recommendation of the Board of Public Works an integrated resource plan prepared by JK Energy Consulting. John Krajewski explained the importance of the plan. ( play audio :24 seconds )
