A Jackson Heights High School alumnus will be returning to the Jackson Heights School district next school year as high school and middle school principal.
Darren Shupe, who graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1990, recently accepted the school board’s offer to serve as principal.
He has served the past year as an assistant principal at Salina Central High school. Prior to that, in worked for 12 years in the Oskaloosa school district—the last four as elementary school principal.
Shupe has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Baker University and a master’s in administration from the University of Kansas.
The USD 335 Board is expected to formally approve a contract with Shupe at their meeting Monday evening.
He will replace Reid Martin.
