Five Arrested for Agg Battery After Incidents

Five individuals are in custody in Atchison County following two aggravated battery incidents over the weekend.

Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson explains the arrest of Joshua Hosier in the first incident.

Police reports say the victim, Dwight “Dewey” Myers, was flown to the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph with head injuries.

Network news sources say he has since been released.

Later that night, Deputies from the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office were called to the county.

Sheriff John Calhoon explains.

Calhoon says the victim, Hosier, in the second incident was taken to Atchison Hospital for treatment.

He says deputies arrested 45-year old Steven Gilliland, 36-year-old Timothy Pruett, 50-year-old James Myers, and 30-year-old Gary Myers.

All made their first appearances in Atchison County Court Monday and were  formally charged with aggravated battery.

Bond was set at 20 thousand dollars for each and they will make their next appearance in court May 11th.

All but Hosier are out on bond.
